Contouring the nasolabial region – without injecting the fold directly

Sometimes a nasolabial fold can be softened more elegantly by not treating the fold itself, but by re-balancing the adjacent region.

The nasolabial fold – the line between the wing of the nose and the corner of the mouth – arises from an interplay of volume loss, tissue descent and sometimes small fat deposits in the adjacent cheek region. Injecting the fold directly is not always the most elegant approach.

The thinking behind the combination

An alternative approach works in two steps: first, small, bothersome fat pads in the transition area can be selectively reduced (injection lipolysis). Afterwards, the mid-cheek region can be gently lifted again through a subtle build-up of volume and vectors, so that the fold is smoothed indirectly – without the fold itself having to be filled.

In this way the transition stays soft and natural. Whether this approach is suitable in an individual case depends on the findings and is assessed by a physician.

Important to know

This is an individually planned approach. Suitability, sequence, intervals and possible risks are clarified in a detailed consultation that includes informed-consent information. Results vary from person to person.
